I was born in Eno, eastern Finland and I work and live in the city of Tampere.
I graduated from Pirkanmaa arts and crafts insitute in 2003 as a metalartisan. After graduating I worked at an art forgery, as a substitude teacher at my former school, taught stained glass courses and worked at a stained glass shop until I started my own company in 2006.

As I was in school, finnish currency, marks started changing to euros, and I wondered where all the metal used in the coins would go. I collected some and a few years later the idea had developed to its full. Now I've gotten to know a collector who delivers me the coins I need if I don't have them in store. With my jewellery the coins have in a way returned to their origin; in the early days man carried his wealth aroud in his necklace.
The most wanted pennyjewellery today is made from coins that were minted on ones birthyear.

The jewellery from spoons, forks and plates, Pouta-collection, sprung from my personal life: my husband was an athlete growing up and he had won spoons and plates as prizes. The numerous silverware had sentimental value but there was no real use for it, all different shapes and sizes. The first Pouta-ring I made was for my husband from a spoon he had won in a cross-country skiing competition; the spoon had a cross-country skiier pictured in it.

My father was an entrepreneur and I've also made unique jewellery from peculiar looking bolts and machine parts I found in his workshop combining them with broken old jewellery parts.

As I look for inspiration, the beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder. I'm showing people what I see, jewellery in everyday items.
I try to use the techinques I learned in school in every piece of jewellery I make. I don't want to make overly easy choices in designing but I also want the jewellery to state its origin.
